Welcome to the Crew: Guest Preparation Guide

Thank you so much for being willing to share you stories, expertise, and insights with us! To help us create an incredible experience for both you and our listeners, here is a quick overview on how we run our show and what you can expect during your experience.

Preparing for an Incredible Conversation

We are really excited to sit down with you and hear your story and learn from your expertise and experience. Our goal with this podcast is to make a difference in both the practices of those driving the current educational system and the lives of students who place their hope in it. Your story and insights make this happen and we are incredibly grateful for your willingness to do that. As such, we want to make this experience as positive for you as it is for our listeners.

01

Our Conversation Style

We specialize in long-format, deep-dive conversations. Our goal isn’t just to talk about ideas and insights, but to explore your unique stories that led to those discoveries and needle-moving accomplishments. We are looking for stories our listeners can relate to and that inspire them to act and challenge the status quo, rather than just talk about it.

02

The Pre-Interview Process (Unrecorded)

Before we hit the record button, we will jump on a brief, unrecorded pre-interview call. This is just a casual chat to get to know you, map out our conversation, and ensure you feel completely comfortable.

03

What We’ll Cover in the Pre-Interview

Your Story: Briefly how did you end up discovering the ideas that led to your work you are doing? Do you have any wild or crazy origin stories? Surprising or weird things that have happened along the way? Massive hurdles you had to overcome? Funny or frustrating moments? Things in your younger years that sent you on a trajectory? (Note: If there is anything in your life or career you are not comfortable digging into, just let us know—we will be sure not to go there).

The Golden Nuggets: What are the most important messages you want to get out to those currently at the helm of our education systems? What are the topics do you most want to explore? What advice would you give to those who are stuck and afraid and how did you discover ways to move beyond those fears and hurdles yourself?

The Interview

The first 15 minutes will be technical checks to make sure the software and equipment are working. Once we confirm everything is good we’ll jump right in.

We use Riverside Studio to record. The software will record the audio and video locally and then upload as we go. Please leave your computer on for 10-20 minutes after the interview is over so Riverside can finish uploading any files.

The podcast intro and your bio will be recorded separately, this allows us to just naturally jump right into our conversation when we record, like you are talking with a friend on the phone.

I am super looking forward to our conversation

This is going to be AWESOME!

Thanks again for being willing to make this happen. I truly believe your story, insights, and wisdom will leave a lasting difference in the lives of thousands of people.
